Hadn't seen it mentioned previously; Col. Paul 'Max' Moga takes command of the 33rd FW at Eglin AFB.

New leadership takes reins of Nomad wing
The 33rd Fighter Wing held a change of command ceremony April 13 at the wing’s maintenance training facility here.

Brigadier Gen. Patrick Doherty, 19th Air Force commander, presided over the ceremony where Col. Paul Moga assumed command from Col. Lance Pilch.

Doherty spoke about the Nomads storied history and foot stomped the role they would play at the forefront of air power.

“The efforts of the 33rd (Fighter Wing) are going to be front and center, the first elements of American power (for future, near-peer conflicts). To deter aggression and, if needed, to crush the threat,” Doherty said.

Col. Max Moga is well known for being the F-22 Raptor demo pilot, so it'll be really interesting to see him fly the F-35. Does the USAF have a policy against the Wing CC flying a full demo at an airshow?

His name is already on the 33rd FW's flagship. It was in the static display at the Pittsburgh, PA air show this weekend.

This is awesome, I still have Moga's final Raptor Demo downloaded on my Ipad. He added a climbing bat turn after the heritage flight....and Oh man can that sucker turn.

Wonder if he can still fly as part of the F-35 Demo team someday, or is he way too high up the chain of command for that?

Probably too high up the chain to fly it but just right to supervise the creation of the demo and the demo team. I'd guess the AF will wait until at least after 3F is released but more likely after the 388th FW gets to FOC before starting demo teams.

This is one guy I'd love to hear compare/contrast airframes...
