It could be the USS Albany (SSN-753) as the submarine is of the 688i later design of the Los Angeles class

Photo essay: First British jets land onboard HMS Queen Elizabeth – Westlant 19 deployment – Part 3
13 Oct 2019 SaveTheRoyalNavy

"This afternoon the first British-owned jets landed on HMS Queen Elizabeth off the eastern coast of the US. These are the photos that have been released by the MoD so far, more details to follow.

These trials are aimed at ‘end-to-end’ testing of the aircraft and personnel to ensure the aircraft are compatible with the carrier. The tests will involve mission planning, arming the aircraft using the ship’s Highly Automated Weapon Handling System, flying missions and debriefing on completion.

Photo: "An all-British affair. It is interesting to note the aircraft handlers appear to be entirely RN. During 2018 USMC personnel assisted with the first landings." https://www.savetheroyalnavy.org/wp-con ... 9/10/8.jpg

Presumably this series of tests will evaluate whether the SRVL manoeuver can be used by regular squadrons? It'll be interesting to see it undertaken on a crowded deck, now that there's more than 2 planes on board.

Had a go at amending the badge (or maybe some kind of 'challenge coin' - US usage I don't get at all but one never knows).

Aren't the Brits borrowing two-three USMC F-35B's? If so, that might explain the "US usage" -- or just the fact that it is "mostly" a US aircraft?
Take an F-16, stir in A-7, dollop of F-117, gob of F-22, dash of F/A-18, sprinkle with AV-8B, stir well + bake. Whaddya get? F-35.

There is a misunderstanding. I was referring to 'challenge coin US usage' which I do not understand. I was guessing that perhaps the original image was of a metal shiny with shadows challenge coin and NOT just a metal badge. DUNNO.

If I understand correctly what you don't understand....a 'challenge coin' is best carried with you at all times, lest you don't have it with you at the bar....and then must buy a round of beverages. Started in the 90s I think. :D

(I still have my US Marshal 727 'challenge coin' with an image of the 727 and the words, "If you're not indicted, you're not invited".)

Heheh. I challenge you to challenge me that I don't understand the usage of 'challenge coins'. But you make sense in your world of 'challenges'. In my former world challenge 'Dead ANTS!' & everyone had to hit the floor with arms & legs in air.

Best film clip I have ever seen simulating this is CLYDE in 'Every Which Way but Loose' simulating being shot by Eastwood.
