hi, I have a question and I really hope somebody has an answer for me.

What is de engine start up procedure/sequence for the F-35? Is it similar to the F-16? And are there any checklists available for the F-35. I have sold my F-16 simulator and i'm looking for data for my new F-35 simulator.

Kinds of regards
Marclugt

There is another version of F-35A SOPs Standard Operating Procedures and a mention elsewhere about starting the engine - however I will have to find it.

Thank you for your reply, I took a look in the SOP attachment but there was no procedure of firing the engines, only hand gestures and signals. But thanks there was good information in that doc.

This "...a mention elsewhere about starting the engine..." means: "somewhere else there is information about starting the engine". As I recall it was simple and not something I personally need to know - hence it is 'elsewhere' - wherever that is.

One day the flight manual for the F-35 variants will be available - don't wait however. Meanwhile we have to do with this:
Blue Sky OPS
26 April 2012 Mark Ayton; AIR International F-35 Lightning II

"...Engine start-up is highly automated, requiring just three switch selections, one each for the battery, integrated
power pack and the engine. Only two selections are required for a hot start.

When the engine has started and is fully spooled up, the pilot must run a few brief checks specific to flight test procedures, which are undertaken before running the vehicle systems built in test (VS BIT). Initiated by a button in the cockpit, the system self-tests almost every function imaginable on the aircraft including the STOVL doors in the case of an F-35B. After 90 seconds, if there are no problems, the aircraft declares itself ready for flight.

The pilot then sets joker (return to base) and bingo (minimum) fuel states, turns on the helmet-mounted display, sets the brightness of the displays and is ready to taxi...."

Seems to me the engine start procedure is outlined above - very simple and highly automated:
- Select battery on with button
- Start IPP with button on
- Start engine with start button
- Run VS BIT
After 90 seconds of self test the aircraft should indicate ready to taxi

Same actor lets the Falcon get away. Lucky he didn't get force-choked.
