Acording to this there's some effort being made to control drones on ship with hand gestures and specialized gloves. Up till now, they've apparently used hand held remote controls.

The tech is certainly here; consumer drones from the likes of DJI already allow you to command them to take-off and land, move back and forth, rotate around you, take photos, etc via hand / arm gestures:
