According to the above article the USAF took 21 surplus US Army UH-60Ls and converted them to HH-60G Pavehawks.

Additionally, the USAF have been flying UH-1Ns there were previously in service with the USMC.

This is hilarious!

I'm not sure I would find the situation "Hilarious" especially since the article left out the detail that the USAF is paying the Army's bill for brand new Mike models so they can get the Army's second hand Lima's.

This whole thing should have been solved decades ago, even before the CSAR-X debacle, but here we are. I think the most frustrating thing is that the USAF will be missing the boat on FVL for quite some time. A 250 kt SB>1 Defiant would no doubt be a game changer for CSAR...

Do you have any additional links I can read that shed light on this situation in which the USAF buys the Army Mikes and gets Larrys in return? If this is true that would be even more hilarious! Poor Pedro! Hahaha!

This is not actually that new. The USAF used ex USMC/Navy H-53s over the years.

A few attrition airframes and old A models as trainers.

It's news for service members of non-USAF branches that are used to getting the short end of the stick while watching the AF go TDY in hotels while they
(ARMY/USMC) are left with a sleeping bag and the ground with MREs.

Didn't they need the L models to keep all of the Pave Hawks as similar as possible using the same block model?

At the risk of getting the boot for bumping a super old thread, we were one of the users of these OLR acft. We upgrade to the whiskey next year.
