Now that's what a next generation truly looks like not the waffling BS the Europeans are spreading about their future aircraft. This craft is pretty neat and perhaps stealthy derivatives could be the next Apache. Regardless it's very impressive and a step change kinematically in so many areas.

Where's the drone striker version? Great tech, but should be pushed in a 2-3 ton drone model to get it out early. That program should be much more cost-effective to bring forward the kinks in it.

Before they can work on an aircraft no one has asked for, they need to be able to show they have a technology that works on an aircraft that a customer has actually asked for.

https://theaviationist.com/2023/10/12/s ... -raider-x/

The annual Association of the United States Army (AUSA) 2023 conference became the venue where Sikorsky finally released photos of its entry to the U.S. Army Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA)
****
Currently the RAIDER X prototype is said to be 98% complete, as the aircraft awaits completion of the GE T901 Improved Engine Turbine Program (ITEP). With the new engine set to be finished later this month, the first flight is scheduled to be before the fourth quarter of 2024. At the moment the RAIDER X team is waiting for the delivery of the new T901 engine and plans on immediately starting the installation process upon arrival. After integration and a successful ground testing phase, RAIDER X should soon take to the skies within a year.

Well, all of this just became academic since the Army canceled FARA today, and the T901 is to be kept in development status delaying it replacing the T700 on other helicopters.

Thus ends the Army's sixth attempt to replace the Kiowa
