It looks better than the prototype, but still not in this league..

I don't think ANYONE actually expects it to get to the Lock-Mart league. And I would say it doesn't need to. That finish could knock 10dB off the signature though. Actually get it to the -20/-25 range. That would be significant as a loaded Su-35S is still in the 10/15 range.

Thanks basher! That was some really nice footage with a lot of close ups, interesting details and nice camera work. It's interesting aircraft and will likely have some impressive capabilities. Of course it has some glaring weaknesses when it comes to stealth qualities but otherwise it seems potentially a very capable aircraft depending on how good the avionics systems really are.

They're making a big deal of this new missile, as well as the fact an SU-35 was recently spotted carrying the R-37. I actually think that's a more interesting missile, if not as practical. I'm also interested to know how close the "brochure stats" of 400km range, Mach 6 hypersonic speed etc. match up with reality.
Even if it can't hit fighter sized targets, it could put enemy aircraft on the defensive quickly... while K-77's are slinged its way. I do think it'll pose a credible threat to tankers/AWACS type aircraft, and USAF would be wise to accelerate development of that micro "anti-missile", missile. Or lasers or..... something, anything to give them a fighting chance.
I doubt China bites on any of these though, as their AAM's seem to be a generation ahead. Which is damned scary if you ask me...

Looks like R77M or at least a mock-up thereof. Striking resemblance to the PL-15. Very keen to see what JATM looks like now
Doesn't look as PL-15, it is R-77 with classic fins. Externally.
Internally it is lot different then R-77, it have that Agat mini AESA seeker and dual-pulse engine.
I found what is supposed to be a Radar Blocker for Su-57, so I'll post it. How effective is it ?

Shown is a visibility-reducing grille in the air intake of a Su-57 fighter
December 7, 2020
Photos with the design features of the air intake of the fifth generation Su-57 fighter have appeared on the network. It is noted that this is the first "official" large-scale demonstration of this structural element of a low-visibility aircraft.
The photo shows a special KRR grating - (coaxial radial grating).
We are talking about a special design that allows you to reduce the "radar" signature of a combat aircraft. It is specially placed in its air intake. In this case, the CRR itself (radar blocker) is made of radio-absorbing material.
Earlier, there was a controversy about the air intakes of the Su-57. They consisted in the following: will Russian aircraft designers use the experience of their American colleagues from Lockheed Martin, who created the S-channel, leading to a decrease in visibility? This option excludes the so-called direct frontal transmission of LCDs (engine compressor blades). The Americans implemented the technology on their F-22.
If the new photo corresponds to the final version of the Su-57 model, then we can state that the dispute is over: Russian aircraft designers did not bother with the S-channel. Instead, the aforementioned coaxial-radial array is used as a radar blocker.

You gotta love Russian state controlled media and their propaganda.
I would make a SWAG that it is just as and no more effective than what the Super Hornet has...
According to the YF-22/F-22 project manager Sherman Mullin, the F-22 was designed with S shaped inlet ducts so that there would be no way a radar could ever see the forward face of the engine. It was/is the most optimal way to have a stealthy engine inlet/intake design.

It seems the Su-57 now has some kind of siren just like the Ju 87 Stuka (Jericho trumpet) lol

Military watch found something new to write about the SU-57.... super duper maneuverability.
https://militarywatchmagazine.com/artic ... noeuvrable
They are really doubling down on the "dogfight isn't dead" thing, which isn't surprising IMO. They know it isn't nearly as stealthy as the F-35, so they're loading it with laser defense, all kinds of EW/IR spoofing gear etc. and.... praying they make it to the merge.
It really is amazing to see how far they've taken this. To date however, they haven't come up with anything that can out-run/out-corner an AIM-9x...
