Big birds. You can see why such capacity and range is hard to give up all these many decades later.

Hell, if they were still around, I'll be we could find a use for B-36s. :D And B-58s would be the perfect hypersonic missile carrier.

Why so much hate for Tyler here?

He was the first to break that piece about the F-15X. Was thoroughly panned for it, yet there it was in the budget request. I'm not saying it's a good idea, only that he was the first to write about it. He seems to have at least some inside knowledge about the program, and does his best to write insightful, entertaining articles.

Did he do/not do something I'm not aware of, other than writing some not very flattering pieces on the F-35?

You mean aside from the fact he's a hack shoveling out click bait? If you just joined the internet I could understand your confusion. Anybody who'd seen his trash when he was writing for Gawker media, and has a clue, sees him for the stain he is.

"Hey guys I don't get the hate, out of the dozens and dozens of claims, predictions, and speculations peppered with lies and half truths over the years, he guessed right on the F-15X"

this post was so braindead it took everything in my power not to write things that would surely get me banned.

One does not to get to make 50 predictions and then when 1 of them turns out to be true claim some kind of expertise. Even a coin will get the answer right 50 percent of the time. Its a low bar, but my standards for an "expert" or self proclaimed journalist is better than 2 percent accuracy.

I don't usually see any kind of "insider info" from Tyler. I typically see the same BS repacked from other open sources, obviously behind and rarely "breaking" his lack of knowledge and no intent to fix his erroneous ways is hugely problematic. Tyler Rogoaway was "fake news" before such a term existed.

OK..

I just recently came across his articles, so was not aware of the 1,001 predictions thing. Nor did I know he wrote for "Gawker". I'm not into stuff like that..

“...he guessed right on the F-15X...”

I’d wager he wrote the article(s) on spec. They read like BA talking points.

What are you talking about? The USAF tried to put the b-52 to bed decades ago with the advanced technology bomber program initiated in the 1970s. The USAF was not allowed to get rid of the buff because our congress determined that the buff was good enough for decades and decades more.

They are trying again to get rid of it with the raider. The only reason it will succeed this time is because the buffs are literally wearing out. Its becoming laughable to think the buff could survive against Russia or China when engines are literally falling off.

Its rather sad to see these images. These pics should be of b-2s.

B-52 will outlast B-1/B-2 and coexist with B-21.

Even before that. Both the XB-70 Valkyrie and the B-1A were supposed to replace the B-52.
