I couldn't help but be reminded of this close call.

RIP to the pilot.

Watching the video, seemed like the a/c kind of pancaked in wings level...seems like he should have been able to punch out.

CFIT is never good. :(

RIP

May the angels carry him away into the skies and heavens above where he fly forever. May the Lord bless his family and leave them with only cherished memories of the life he lived.

The video looks very similar to the F-86 crash I witnessed at El Toro in '93.

First rumors say the typhoon suffered of a sudden loss of power that caused the pilot to fail to gain altitude. AMI has yet to say a word.

So sad, his parents and his girlfriend were present at the exhibition. The woman collapsed and got hospitalized. Seems they had no child.

R.I.P. Capt. Orlandi. The show before the crash looked very nice.

This video seems to gives some clues to the engine sound:

https://youtu.be/hnpQKagdORg?t=165

The delay of the sound from the aircraft to the camera right before the crash is about 4-6 seconds (the airplane moves away from the camera when it climbs before the crash)?

* At 2:49 you can hear the engine sound go softer.
* Then at 2:58 you can hear the sound drop again, to very low at 3:01.

Yeah the engine going quiter is really noticeable in your video.

Hope it doesnt turn out to be a malfunction caused by some negligence from the maintainers of Gruppo Sperimentale Volo.

Would be even worse to digest by Orlando's family
Cieli blu, pilot. Rip.

We don't know the circumstances of the crash... but I will say this about the Eurofighter: Too expensive to buy, too cheap to install AGCAS.

Spanish Eurofighter Typhoon Crashes Near Albacete After Performing In National Day Parade, Killing Pilot
Oct 12 2017
It’s the third deadly crash of a Eurofighter in one month.
A Spanish Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon has crashed at Albacete, southeast on Madrid, Spain, while recovering to Los Lanos airbase after taking part in a National parade. The pilot did not manage to eject from the aircraft and was killed in the accident.

According to the Spanish MoD, the Eurofighter, one of four Typhoons that took part in the parade over Madrid, crashed, for unknown reasons, on approach to Albacete.

This is the third deadly crash of a Typhoon in one month: a RSAF Typhoon combat aircraft involved in a mission against Houthi fighters over Yemen crashed into a mountain in Al Wade’a district on Sept. 13, 2017; then, on Sept. 24, an Italian Air Force Typhoon crashed into the sea while performing its solo display during the Terracina airshow.

Imagine the apoplectic hysteria if it were three F-35s that crashed in one month.
