OK, then what's the PRETTIEST military aircraft (non-Viper)

Military aircraft - Post cold war aircraft, including for example B-2, Gripen, F-18E/F Super Hornet, Rafale, and Typhoon.

Yep! I do too, a nice break from the (beautiful) Mirage deltas. Although the Argentinians just had a few Exocets and Etandards, they made use of them quite effectively in 1982...

That's a great wallpaper, Peter, and you're right... 5 SUE and 5 Exocet.. they sank the "Type 42 Sheffield" and the Cargo Ship "Atlantic Converyor"..(I don't know if the attack to the HMS Invincible were truth..)

They were "successes" for a country that fought against 2/3 of the Royal Navy...

*Edit*: Sorry, I went a little :offtopic:

If you like the Mirage F1 you got to love this movie:
http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos.php?action=view&id=238

It is an extreme low flying exercise with mirages, and it is the best movie I found on the internet yet. It's quite big though, but really worth the long downloading.

Back ontopic: Hornet is my favourite.

Well, although some find the tail way too big, I still kinda like the Tornado IDS, especially when flying very fast at camel height, since we're talking about low and fast. The brute appearance of the Tornado mudmover is so ugly that it becomes beautiful, like the A-10... :D

This to me is the epitomy of 'pretty': this formation as it flew by on the RNLAF Open Day at Gilze-Rijen. I'm a member of the historic org keeping this Spit and Mitchell in the air. The dem F-16 Sonic Boom goes without saying... :D

The B-25.. I like it, it's a great bomber... It was used by Jimmy Doolittle in the Tokyo Raid. (4/8/1942), a great mission with serious consequences for Japan.

But talking about medium-level bombers, I have to say that I like the B-26 Marauder...

How about the A26 Invader, also two big radials with little aircraft between them...

Yep, the A-26, that's good too.. used in WWII and in the begining of the Vietnam War by the "advisors".. is a fantastic bomber.

The SAAB Draken looked like a Kfir on steroids. But the Gripen is one beautiful bird.

That also goes for the Typhoon II and Rafale. Delta/canard birds do possess some good looks. The Kfir you mentioned and the Lavi proto.

As I said earier in this thread, deltas are among my favorites. The Mirage 2000, although operating in the shade of the F-16 is actually a fine fighter, a true successor to the Mirage III/V series. It has only one real disadvantage: it's French... :D
