A few of us have been TDY to lots of bases and locales--in your experience what place was best and what place was worst. Consider the total experience--the mission, work facilities and shifts, distance from facilites to jets, billeting and base facilities, transportation, downtown, nightlife, locals...you name it. If it made or broke your TDY it counts

I'll start
Best: Far and away...Korat Thailand. Thai's are super friendly and polite. Our RTAF counterparts went out of their ways to accomodate us and learn from us. The beers were cold and cheap and the food was hot. And 15 bucks to have a cute Thai girl walk on your back...not bad. The open sewers took getting used to but hey...thats Asia.
Worst: Nellis. What?? Am I nuts?? "Dude...Its Vegas!!!" as my bud likes to say. Vegas is great..........for about 3 days then I want to go home. Vegas can be a blast especially if you have a tight crew, but the job aspect sucked.

Hey Viper, what made Israel so bad? I was there in 99 and the accommodations and food sucked but we traveled a good bit and that was really great.

Haze...I was there with Viper and believe me it sucked....we were confined to base....got stoned through the fence by the locals....it just wasn't a good time at all.

However I would have to say the best TDY location/locations are Denmark, Poland, and Turkey. Just too many good times at those locale's to list but always a good time in those countries.

That it did... it was also dry...no booze at all... I think the Shirt got us some beer for only one night. We also put the pilots van on blocks.

My best picks for TDY's would have to be......Denmark, Singapore, Curaco, Hawaii, and Turkey. The worst I'd have to say Nellis after 1 week with out vehicles and stuck to public transport, and the AOR i.e. the dry countries of Saudi, Oman, Kuwait and now Iraq. Tent living at it's finest!!!! Oh yeah one more best place I forgot to add earlier is Rota, Spain that is one party town.

Zaragoza, Denmark, and RAF Bentwaters were all good. Almost forgot Deci, that was always a good time.

Very true haze....Zaragoza was a sh*t hot time and Deci wasn't too bad either. The local pools in Zaragoza were always a good place to hang out...lots of women with out clothes on....LOL

Imagine a 2 year long ZAB TDY - that's an assignment at Torrejon. I don't know how any of us survived...

Worst: PSAB (Prince Sultan Air Base) in Saudi Arabia. Hot, dry and $3.50 per day.

Second worst: Bahrain...Same as above except the chow hall was worst but we (some of us got more  ) got three beers a day.

Best: Turkey during ONW, low workload and lots of drunken times

Panama, low workload CHEAP booze; Bacardi was $3 a fifth

Norway, High per diem, BEAUTIFUL women and some of the friendliest people I've ever met

Forgot to add another one of my favorites: Diego Garcia

The best chow hall I have ever eaten in. The cooks are Philippino and are very good at their jobs. Every other weekend was steak and crab legs.

Awesome snorkeling! Awesome beach!

Deep sea fishing for $75!!!

Large combination pizza delivered to your tent for $6.

Beer: $2.50 a six pack

Now I'm sad....

Don't be sad Eggroll, you're not TDY 270 days of the year anymore like most of the folks back here in the forks!
WTF Over!
