That would be an interesting juxtaposition IMO... I wonder if the audience could perceive of the subtle differences when flying in the subsonic regime. Otherwise, please keep these pictures coming. The F-22 looks absolutely sinister in many of them...

I think the most badass demo these aircraft can do together is a "chase demo". Have them fly at the same time and follow each others maneuvers as closely as they can. Have one aircraft do a minimum turn radius then have the other to the same thing directly afterward and so on. One thing that will be noticeable is the F-22's TVC at lower speeds... hell just look at this power loop.

You know, you're right.

It would be the strongest illustration yet of just how "good" the F-35 is (air to air, dogfighting anyway). Yes, dogfighting/dogfight maneuvers are all but dead - but it can and has been used to sell airplanes.Everyone knows the F-22 is the measuring stick. Which means if the F-35 can just hang with it for any length of time....

Right, wrong or indifferent the "F-35 isn't meant to dogfight" mantra is still out there. I read something to that effect almost daily, and it drives me nuts. It's still being used to cast doubt, and its time to dispel that doubt in the strongest way possible. They're right - it wasn't meant to dogfight. But that doesn't mean it can't if called upon to do so, and nothing will illustrate that more pointedly (to the public, anyway) than a "chase" demo with an F-22.

Great idea :)

It's been surpassed by the F-22 and other aircraft, but the F-16 still looks sleek/futuristic IMO. Especially "clean" or even carrying a minimalist air to air loadout. Russians are fond of saying how its been made obsolete by their Flankers and is no match even for new build Mig-35's.

But its also been said that a relatively clean F-16 with GE F-110 and a good pilot is about as good as it gets WVR, and with the new AESA's going into them... I'm sure the USAF is glad we have around 900 or so on hand. It will be a sad day when it leaves USAF service..

It is hard to imagine what they'll come up with next. PCA will no doubt be bigger, but will it look any meaner? Not going to be easy. IMO LM took a very Edsel looking YF-22A to a production F-22 thought, that looked like a flying dagger. The YF-22A was butt ugly, especially with the cockpit/canopy location and those ridiculously big vertical stabilizers.

Once they re-positioned the canopy, clipped the wings, re-designed the horizontal and vertical stabs etc it looked a LOT better. From certain angles now, it looks positively like flying death. The F-35 too, especially when carrying an AIM-9X under either wingtip..
