My heartfelt condolences to the family of the fallen pilot.

It a great loss of a Nation's defense asset. Both man and machines..

My sincere condolences to the family of late Lt Col Vaerten. The loss of a husband and a father is not an easy thing to overcome. But this realisation that he died with his boots on and while doing a noble job can slightly ease the pain.Incidently I also fly the F-16 and can understand that we all have near misses on this agile fighter while undergoing operational training we all are lucky that it misses by few feet ,but unfortunitely Vaertan was not that lucky . Non of his fault. May God rest his soul in peace.

Veel sterkte toegewenst aan de familie van Leutenant-Kolonel Vaerten, alsook aan al zijn collega's van het 31 Tiger Sqn.

Ik leef met jullie mee...

Also as a Forward Air Controller, we need someone brave above. As from us, we would like to thank you. It will never be the same.

To the family, take care of each other, that's the way he would wanted it to be.

Sincerely, Poppy Triple Two
