F-16 solo display - Or what an F-35 WON'T be able to do ;)

Agreed, it will never be a fair fight but how would the F-16 match up against the ... ?

Sounds great, but how do you figure you'll fly a 7 min. demo, with 3 min. worth of fuel, in AB?
Cheers, Cola

Fair comeback, johnwill. If fully fueled (F-16 w/ 2x CFT) and w/ 2 AAM and 2 2k lb'ers each, F-35 should out cruise and and likely out air-show the F-16 imho.

I guess the point being, if in a maxed-out ACM configuration, say 2 AAM each and clean w/ relevant internal fuel load, then some of us at least will be anticipating that video some day - displaying what an F-35 can do when pushing the edge...

But one might ponder too while we're at it... what handling and performance would look like between an F-16XL+ (upgraded 32k thrust engine) and F-35 - but each loaded with 6 AAM and 12 500lb'ers

On that topic, does anyone know of any flanker displays with weapons + tanks? I can't seem to find any.

Dude, we all know that the Russian TVC aircraft are airshow tumblers meant to fool dumba$$ 3rd world $itheads into buying Sukhoi. They can jump around all they want, but they can't out-turn an expanding-rod warhead. Fact is, whoever sees the other guy first is probably gonna win. You absolutely can't judge an aircraft by an airshow display.

Seeing as how the entire display won't require afterburner usage, I don't see what the problem is.

At 72, I'm hoping to live long enough to see an F-35 airshow, clean or loaded.

No fair bringing up the XL, as you well know.

Hopefully the Marines will do a serious airshow routine to commemorate their IOC in 2014/15.

OL, here's hoping you far surpass 72, as I have every intention of doing.

I'd propose a meet up at F-35's first public airshow. God speed.

I'm only 32, but starting to wonder if I'll live to see the F-35 at an airshow. Sorry, I know better than that, but the news just seems so bad on all fronts. Seems that money has gotten tight just in time for all our cold war stuff to wear out. Wanna be real depressed? Just take a look at the Navy's fleet/ship-building status. :(
