Does anyone have any contacts or information on civilian jobs that egress techs can apply for? Some of my troops and several others are getting scrubbed due to force shaping. They might not have the experience necessary, but I'd like to help them out.

Martin-Baker will be undertaking the Escape System Upgrade Program (ESUP) for the U.S. Air Force T-38 Aircraft starting in September 2006. They are seeking to recruit personnel in a number of skill sets at various locations who have experience of the T38 aircraft or any Martin-Baker system.

The initial activity will be based at Laughlin AFB in Texas, for an anticipated duration of 18 months, and will relocate to other USAF T-38 bases as the program progresses in the following 7 years. They are looking for applicants in the following skill sets:

Ejection Seat Technician
Preferably with experience in the fit and removal of the existing Northrop Ejection Seat or have prior knowledge of any Martin-Baker escape system. Experience on the JPATS ejection seat would be a distinct advantage.

Structures Technician
General knowledge of T-38 airframe and fitting skills to be able to carry out general aircraft handling and airframe repairs.

Electrical Technician
Experienced in electrical systems of the T38 aircraft with the flexibility for cross training to assist mechanical structures work.

In all cases training will be given on all aspects of the installation and administration. It is expected that all staff will be cross trained to be a core team member covering the full skill set to meet the demands of the program. Members will be required to be flexible in their approach to working hours to enable the program to stay on target over the following 7 years.

Applicants should be either US citizens or hold a US work Permit/Green card. Other selection criteria will apply.

Egress Red X
Civilian egress jobs are few and far between. Youre best bet is to get your troops into some kind of school. If they are serious about staying in maintenance. They can go for a A/P school.

The best bet is to get them into a growing career field. Like automotive, computers or medical. Aircraft maintenance has always been feast or famine.

Look at USAJobs for positions at Davis-Monthan (AMARG-"the Boneyard"). Egress techs here also work on munitions, gun systems, and weapons pylons. Last I knew there were three positions posted, need to get the resume in before the close-out date, which will probably be in about a week.

CSC is hiring at Vance AFB, we just had a guy leave a couple weeks back. Pay is good, lots of work to keep you busy.
