Job Code/Title : T8124:Technician 4
Job Description : This position will be in Balad.

F-16 Avionics Technician: Services, repairs, and overhauls aircraft avionics systems to ensure airworthiness. Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft avionics systems, such as comm/nav, attack, instruments and flight control systems. Determines feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components. Work typically requires a detailed understanding of the interrelationships of circuits and relationship to onboard systems. May provide technical guidance and OJT to customer technicians.


The first several months of this assignment will consist of flying operations at a US location followed by site set-up activities in Iraq, to include but not limited to light to medium construction activities such as assembling warehouse shelving and furniture in all areas of the maintenance complex. Candidates must be willing and able to participate in all set-up activities, assist with receiving and storing supplies and support equipment. The site will still be under construction at the time of the first arrivals.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS/INFO: Candidate must be a high school graduate or have completed an equivalent program. Candidate must have held a USAF skill level 7 (or equivalent) in his career field. Candidate must have at least 4 years’ experience with F-16 aircraft maintenance activities. Progressive and documented experience in the fighter aircraft maintenance environment. Documented qualifications in related maintenance fields. Must have strong communications and interpersonal skills. Must read, write and speak English fluently. Must have or be able to rapidly secure a DOD secret clearance. Regularly required to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, perform repetitive movements, and perform work from ground level to overhead. This position requires frequent standing for long periods, walking, stooping, kneeling, squatting, crawling, and twisting. Assignment location is in Balad.
