Spoke to Bountyhunter. Sent his resume. CV as Sara would say at AMMROC. He got an email message back from her,but no verification he was to show up at one of the C-17 base interview sites in the USA. Sara Galliott/HR Manager at AMMROC is on www.linkedin.com . There's occasional message traffic about the jobs under GROUP titled AMMROC Recruitment on Linked In.

That's the question I have mc5wes. I'm in Afghanistan. I sent my CV to Sara relating to F-16 on the 2nd JS Firm job advertisement. No response. There's a daily flight from here to Dubai. I wanted to see if they would interview in Abu Dhabi if they considered my experience. There is one guy on Linked In I know who's interested in AMMROC. I'll contact to see if he got an invite.

No C-17 experience. He's currently working MANDATORY,BOO COO overtime at Gulfstream in Savannah,GA. He's just expanding into fixed wing experience, but based on the 2nd JS Firm job listing AMMROC is expanding into helicopter mods the UAE military has. I know from an article UAE is truning their Blackhawks into gunship of sorts. UAE company overseen by a diversity of cultures. Will be interesting.

I last worked ANG F-16s in 2006. Then worked UAE Block 60 2008-2009. It would be interesting to see what the AMMROC recruiters say. Time shouldn't matter. It's the knowledge and skill level that are important.

Time does matter. Back in 94 they were Block 25 and ADF models. That is total different from a CCIP block 50 or Block 60.

Good thought mc5wes. AMMROC recruiters should have put recent experience in the JS Firm job ad. They mentioned specialties like engines ,structural pneudraulics etc... Aviationjobsearch.com site does say up to date C-17 experience. On aviation job search they're only mentioning C-17 aircraft. rs-1477 question for you. Did you receive a personal e-mail to show up at the an AMMROC job fair or just show up getting word through job ad?

That's why it's better to go with a DOD Contractor for a job overseas.

You have to pay some taxes. But the operation will be better run.  No out of the blue nonsense.

Also the bigger the better. A Boeing over a Dyncorp.

Having worked in the Middle East. You will find that this is the normal operation. Imagine the Human Resorces office here. But run by people with marginal english skills. Looking at your cetificates. Picking the best looking ones. And then waiting for the boss to make a decision.

Dont wait for a call. Keep applying for all the jobs. Remember not to change your cell number or email address.

I cant count the number of times I have been callled about an opening. Years after I applied.

rs-1477. You're going through LM for the F-16 Block 60s at Al Dhafra? You would transition to UAE through Donaldson Center in my hometown of Greenville,SC. Yes,but an Emirate lady from AMMROC phoned me in Afghanistan. She asked various questions. Like how many years of depot, intermediate and flightline experience. What type aircraft I've worked and how many years. Skills. Why I would want to work for AMMROC. What I'm making now. Education. Certifications. Training experience. What is the minimum wage I would accept. Just a few of the questions. The lady was very knowledgeable, patient,a good listener and allowed me to ask questions. She would ask someone nearby for clarification of a question she could not answer. I gained a better understanding of wages.Learned that the wage offered on www.jsfirm.com for technician, lead and supervisor is not firm. You may be offered a different wage depending on the platform/aircraft you are assigned. I still have other questions. She passes the response to questions and CV/resume on to the Tech Guys for review. Waiting to see if they contact me.

AMMROC will be an interesting diversity venture. Bridging cultures. Building at team combined of USA,UK,Indian,Phillipino,Pakistani,Moroccan, Emiratees and others. An aviation melting pot. It would take time to develop a comfort zone. Learning what AMMROC's expectations are. Becoming acquainted with other workers standards, quality of work and efficiency.

Not to mention, being in a Muslim country; what is the work schedule going to be like? I have bben surfing around other forum's and from the sounds of it, AMMROC wants to hire no B.S. quality maintainers but don't want to pay the price for success.

I dunno....just looking to get my foot in the door and if it is through AMMROC, so be it. After that, I hope to make some good friends that can point me in the right direction as far as great companies with tons of benifits!

bountyhunter. No doubt to accomodate Muslim workers,Friday being the Muslim Holy Day if not Saturday would be an off day. One would hope they could expidite the process to get the UAE Driver's License.Instead of having to leave the country every 30 days as I experienced in order to stay in the country. Christians actually meet for services in UAE on Friday because of their work schedule. Another candidate in negotiations with AMMROC and I believe they've spent too much money already and are forced to cut cost. Cancelled until further notice the UK Job Fairs. They ask WHAT IS THE MINIMUM YOU WOULD ACCEPT FOR PAY? They want you to ignore the pay amount listed for the different level workers that were listed then deleted on JS FIRM. Go figure.

rs-1477. That's a good question? How many will sign up? Most if not all would be Ex-pat status, but they would now be working for a UAE company. Paid once a month. Two years from now Secret Clearance you would have to start all over again. AMMROC is doing a background investigation. Depending on what is offered,LM may have been a better thing with a 2 bedroom place given. AMMROC is putting housing money in the offer and you have to find your housing. Work out your transportation. I've got some specific questions for the Tech Guys if they call. Offer questions also. Still a lot of unanswered before committing. In a few years they will move to Al Ain facility. How much of AMMROC? Don't know.

I still haven't heard anything back on my request to retire early. But I look forward to going back to the Middle East for a couple of years.

Good luck

Anyone already in the UAE? I am looking for info on apartments my searches look deceiving. mainly interested in prices and good areas. I am pretty sure I will be in Abu Dhabi.

Check out dubizzle.com, they usually have a lot of listings of apartments. If you are going to live in abu dhabi I would suggest checking out khalifah city a and mohammed bin zayed city they are fairly close to the airport where you will be working. Downtown abu dhabi is nice, I would recommend al reem island they have some nice new apartments and there are a great deal of western expats there. The only downside to living in abu dhabi is the traffic congestion.

Back to Al Ain! Woo-hoo!

70 minute commute both ways, every day... Stop at the halfway house on the way home before falling asleep at the wheel! Dodge the locals in the circle of death at the edge of town! Smell the stink of the camel market when driving to Pizza Hut!

I love the UAE. :lmao:

Oh, yeah... the fog. (sigh)

FIRST day there, we tried to get downtown from the Mafraq, only to be stopped by a sixty, yes you read right, *60* car pileup down the road. Called Fat Bast- er, the HR guy, and he said don't bother coming in. Um, okay...

Back to the pool and drinking! Woo-hoo!

I was just hired by AMMROC, I don't start til late Aug. though because I'm going home to the US for the summer. I hope the new guys you're talking about got a better housing allowance than I did or they are coming without families. My husband works here in AD so our houseing is already taken care of, if not, the allowance would not have been nearly enough. I'll be working QA and they do not know where I will be working just yet, at start I will be traveling to Dubai and Al Ain from AD....YUCK!

I might be able to help with some questions about the local area if anyone has some.

Looking at the posts for people coming here soon looking for housing. Oldmopwater is right that dubizzle.com is a great place to look. Also keep in mind all prices are "semi" negotiable here. I would advise, however, for most americans to avoid Mohammed Bin Zayed City for living (also still refered to as Mussaffah). Not many locals there, mostly Indians and Pakistanis who usually avoid you aside from dirty looks unless you are female or have your wife with you. Then they try to harrass. The advantage to being close to work is now negated due to construction and rapid growth: after almost 2 years living there I could make it home in 15 minutes and spend another 45 looking for a place to park. Almost made me miss the drive to Al Ain. Khalifa City A is relatively inexpensive and an easy drive to Abu Dhabi or Al Dhafra. But if you like shopping and nightlife, and don't mind the traffic, then Abu Dhabi is still your best option. Many apartments open all the time, and the price will really depend on your requirements.

Rico007, mistad, p0intyhead, jam1219, corral, and SammyZ, I have been reading your posts and they all sound good. I too have been hired by AMMROC and will leave the US in July. Already sent my paperwork to them for final and have been in contact with a guy in Saudi that said it takes exactly 3 weeks for them to finalize the paperwork and then they send tickets, and travel arraingments by email. He told me that he was hired in the "G" grade position. My question to all of you is "what grade position did you get hired as?" I have heard of them as a letter grade. I see from your posts that there is a lot of talk about GS positions. Is that the case? Are there going to be GS positions? I am really interested to learn about all of you. I also look forward to working with all of you. Sounds like we will all be in the melting pot together. Email me if you like... Postaldog2k2@hotmail.com

bountyhunter AMMROC pay scale will not equate to the US FED GS pay scale. AMMROC G position Salaries are in the mid $50K, low $70K range for 5/7 levels respectively. Annual bonus of up to 3 times base monthly salary. The more senior positions are called J and K grade positions, with the K grade being the slightly higher of the two. (CMSgt/SMSgt/MSgt types) K grade positions go for $117,500K and include an accompanied/family package benefits. The $117.5 is inclusive of the housing and transportation allowances. J grade positions go for $106K, the rest is the same as above. Each Federal job is given a specific rating from one to fifteen depending on the amount of education and experience required for each position. US FED GS-9 Salary Range: $38,824-$50,470 Hourly Rate: $20.95-$27.24

That is true. You do get paid a housing stipend but it is not extra. So if you are paying $45k/yr for an apt, than that is $45K less a year you will have in pocket. Also, those salaries are just figures. I was originally offered a pretty decent salary (in one of those zones) and when it was all said and done, the original offer could not/did not go through. I was still given an offer but substansially lower than the original and on the low end of those figures.
