daoldaot, If I had a choice I would stay where you are. Miami is expensive and the maintenance atmosphere is not the best right now. Morale has its ups and downs but more down. We are in uniform just like active duty but with no benefits.

Daoldat is all ready Air National Guard. So he is already up on wearing the uniforms all day. And just ask about morale at any ART base?

As far as costs. Everything thing is relative. Depends on if you live in Keys Gate or Key Largo. Where else can you buy a town home for under 40K?

I work in Ft. Worth as an ART and Homestead is our sister unit. I would not go there unless you had no other choice. We have had three of there guys transfer here in the past year.

I recently transferred from an ANG unit to the 482nd. It is not that bad (TR), it is what you make it. It’s just like any other ANG unit. Many of the maintenance personnel are young, from Crewchiefs to Commanders (Not like the Guard); OP’s tempo is the same, same BS as any other AFB, ARB and ANGB.

Homestead is like any other AFRC base. Do more with less. Wear the uniform and pretend to be Active Duty.

If it was a toss up on everything else. The uniform issue would make the difference. Which is what your seeing. C-17 guys from March going to Travis. Another non uniform wearing base.

But for me. Carswell or Homestead wouldn't even be close. Work in Miami and live in the Florida Keys.
