Ziggy is it still single status or will the company pay for families to come over there ?
I would also like to know is the pay in the six figures or close to it?
Do they offer HL "Home Leave" and IL " Incentive Leave and how many days of vacation per year?

So it sounds like from what your saying is that all of the workers have their own car to go to work.

You can bring your family over but it's on your dime. They will help with the visa paperwork but for most cases it's a single persons contract. I know of a lot of people who brought their wives over with no problem. Some even have jobs in the UAE.

The Current (9-08-09), FULL daily Off-base perdiem rate for Dubai is $505.00 per day or appx $15,000.00 per month, this is what you could get as a contractor. So, subtract from that the benefits offered by Lockheed. Add to Full PD, Salary- tax free, completion bonus...%25.

Half of allowable perdiem is appx $255.00 a day + salary. Its understandable that Lockheed makes money on your employment but keep in mind that they are already getting appx $200.00+ an hour for your time under contract to the UAE.

I don't know who has been lying to you, but your hourly rate is significantly less than 200 an hour. Also, since lodging is provided, LM is not obligated to pay a full per diem rate.

That's beautiful... someone is in a dream world with $200.00+ per hour. Past experience shows a company makes six figures per year, per employee (then McDonnell Douglas) made $125K per sign-on. Flightline employees were paid, and I'm talking strictly APG now, $50K, that included housing, and transportation to and from work, house hold storage in a environmentally controlled facility (stateside), medical, (unless you were retired military), and dental. The employee paid for food (wife, kids if he had any) plus, you paid for your private vehicle, if you elected to purchase one. You could take the shuttle to and from work and downtown to do shopping (there's your transportation). Remember kids, there is the good ol' boy factor working in each and every one of these overseas assignments, so be forewarned. Mind you, the above is some 25 years past, but as you cruise through the net you will find nothing has changed except the name of the companies that hold the present contract. The housing and compounds are quite adequate and safe, but you will be living and working with the same people EVERY day. Retirees had a loathing for the "4 year dropouts". Keep your personal business to yourself and never let on to much about yourself… food for thought. One last note, take home pay was $36K tax free.

The pay for this job is $37.65 per hour and Lockheed will provide you with a small one or two bedroom apartment. You will have to buy or rent a car and pay for your own gas which averages about $45 a week depending on your car and your driving habits. The UAE is a fun place and you can travel to see a lot of the world from here, but you can also get into trouble here so you will need to keep your nose clean. The work is easy and there is a lot of area for advancing your knowledge of other system on the aircraft. It will be what you make it, and you can take it or leave it, it is up to you, but dont come here and complain, its just like the military, you signed on, but you didnt have too.

completion bonus of $4000 and FSP, but that was factored into the $38 per hour that I quoted to you. its a job, and a learning experience. If you are looking for a job to fill time off, then this is the place, but not for advancement.

Hi Khalid, all of the jobs in the UAE on the F-16 program are going to require you to have a US Secret security clearance to obtain a position. Even Capt Ahmed from the missile backshop over there could not get a job for the EOD positions that they advertise, wish you could though, you would be good at it.

whats going on 0311, great advice on al salem, their offer to me was the same as a full-time gig at McDonalds...so good lookin out...Would you possibly know of any weapons positions over there in the UAE, i'm about seven months out of active duty and still looking for a gig...heard UAE is a great place to work...plus when i was in i had two supervisors that were picked to set up thier Armament backshop because of their expertise and knowledge and a good bit of that has been passed on to the likes of myself...anyway just hoping for a gig...any info would be greatly appreciated...

Who were your co-workers? I might have known them.

Yep, I knew them. I no longer work for LM, I quit in August of last year. I now work for GAL which is a local company. You can go to their web site gal.ae and submitt a resume there. They will be hiring sooner or later. Positions with LM and the F-16 contract for weapons doesn't change very much. So all I can say is watch the web site for any openings.

Are there any armament jobs available? How do we get in touch with you Ziggy if we need to ask more questions?
