Ziggy, I haven't seen any stories on the internet anywhere, but, was wondering if it's true about the UAE losing 2 or 3 jets from crashes within the past few months? How many total have they lost since the beginning of the Block 60 Program?

RE: www.defensetravel.dod.mil

The Current (9-08-09), FULL daily Off-base perdiem rate for Dubai is $505.00 per day or appx $15,000.00 per month, this is what you could get as a contractor. So, subtract from that the benefits offered by Lockheed. Add to Full PD, Salary- tax free, completion bonus...%25.

Half of allowable perdiem is appx $255.00 a day + salary. Its understandable that Lockheed makes money on your employment but keep in mind that they are already getting appx $200.00+ an hour for your time under contract to the UAE.

I don't know who has been lying to you, but your hourly rate is significantly less than 200 an hour. Also, since lodging is provided, LM is not obligated to pay a full per diem rate.

That's beautiful... someone is in a dream world with $200.00+ per hour. Past experience shows a company makes six figures per year, per employee (then McDonnell Douglas) made $125K per sign-on. Flightline employees were paid, and I'm talking strictly APG now, $50K, that included housing, and transportation to and from work, house hold storage in a environmentally controlled facility (stateside), medical, (unless you were retired military), and dental. The employee paid for food (wife, kids if he had any) plus, you paid for your private vehicle, if you elected to purchase one. You could take the shuttle to and from work and downtown to do shopping (there's your transportation). Remember kids, there is the good ol' boy factor working in each and every one of these overseas assignments, so be forewarned. Mind you, the above is some 25 years past, but as you cruise through the net you will find nothing has changed except the name of the companies that hold the present contract. The housing and compounds are quite adequate and safe, but you will be living and working with the same people EVERY day. Retirees had a loathing for the "4 year dropouts". Keep your personal business to yourself and never let on to much about yourself… food for thought. One last note, take home pay was $36K tax free.

The pay for this job is $37.65 per hour and Lockheed will provide you with a small one or two bedroom apartment. You will have to buy or rent a car and pay for your own gas which averages about $45 a week depending on your car and your driving habits. The UAE is a fun place and you can travel to see a lot of the world from here, but you can also get into trouble here so you will need to keep your nose clean. The work is easy and there is a lot of area for advancing your knowledge of other system on the aircraft. It will be what you make it, and you can take it or leave it, it is up to you, but dont come here and complain, its just like the military, you signed on, but you didnt have too.

Mckenzy,

Do you have a family with you or kids in school, I am interested if people are overall happy with the family situation over there. Thanks!

I am here single, but wife will join me soon, there are people here that have kids that attend school, but Lockheed will not pick up the tab, this is an unsponsored position.
