496th TFS at Pferdsfeld AB

Any one floating around on here that went with the 496th TFS to the German Air Base Pferdsfled in the
mid 80's? For me that was the best three months in the air force while the Hahn runway was closed for maintenance.

I missed that TDY by a few months. I got to the 496th in Jan of 86. I heard it was awesome. (From those who could remember bits and pieces) :beer:

Photo taken two days ago from Inside one of the bunkers next to the runway. Hahn became a Privat airport for tourism and logistics aviation after the airbase closed. Nowadays the barracks are part of the University of the Police of Rhineland Palatinate and used by students.

The former munitions depot is used by the police for training high speed chases and driving Parcours
