I just joined, looks like a great site! I became interested in aircraft when I was at school and went to airshows as much as I could. I go to the IAT as often as I can and also Farnborough. When I saw the F16 for the first time I fell in love with it and it was instantly my favourite. I like all aircraft however and as an engineer I appreciate the technology. If you want a real aircraft fanatic to talk to and don't mind talking to a brit say so now!

Welcome to F-16.net, peterb. What kind of engineering work do you do? You'll find every kind of airplane fanatic on this site - pilots, ground crew, engineers, weapons types, engine specialists, and lots of people outside the business.

Thanx john, I ended up as a PC engineer but I have knowledge of mechanical engineering as well. When I left school I wanted to be an engineer and did a general course. Unfortunately Mrs Thatcher came to power, completely decimated British industry and closed down the steelworks. I realised that I was good at electronics so I decided to do that at a different college. I then got a job as a technician which ended badly after a few years but by then I had had exposure to PCs and I've been doing that ever since.

As for the F-16 it's simply my favourite aircraft. General Dynamics decided to get the maximum out of the available technology at the time and the result is superb.

Before I upgraded to Vista I used to play Falcon on my old PC, I'm going to put the old Windows 98 HD in it and play falcon again if I can find the disk.

Is that Falcon 4.0 PeterB, Allied Force or something else entirely? I've been thinking about pulling one of my desktops out and using it strictly for Flight Simulators myself. You can still get Window 98SE at http://www.nextag.com/windows-98se-buy/products-html and http://trinitysoftwaredistribution.com/microsoftwindows98secondeditionfulloem.aspx (not to mention EBay and Amazon.com). In case anyone needs to partition their hard drive or doesn't have a backed up Windows 98 system lying around.
And welcome aboard Peter!

Good luck on finding the hard drive (my apartment tends to swallow things up also)! Is this http://www.hotud.org/component/content/article/46-simulation/20080 the game you're talking about? I'm not familar with it.
And CallSignThumper I like video games as much as the next guy (and an XBox 360 IS on my Christmas wish list - they don't make too many games for the PC anymore), but give the Ace Combat 6 promotions a rest already will you?! Either you're in to a shoot-em up video game (with unlimited ammo, unlimited fuel, etc.) or you're not. Didn't you take enough ribbing on this http://www.f-16.net/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=164947&highlight=#164947 post?

That's the game I'm talking about FlightDreamz, I'll find the HD. I had a Playstation 2 but only ever used it to watch DVDs despite having quite a few games. I've been playing DI sims since the days of the IBM XT. As I have the computer kit it makes sense to use a computer rather than a games console, which I can't afford atm even 2nd hand.

Found the HD and it's got some usefull stuff on it, not just games. Fighting Falcon is a good simulation considering the limitations of a 400MHz Pentium II PC. I just have to take some screenshots of the key functions. Gonna have some fun with this. :)
