Saw this over at boring.com, sorry... Warisboring.com
There’s Still No Finish Line in Sight for the F-35 Program
The stealth jets continue to underperform

https://warisboring.com/theres-still-no ... 5-program/

I was like "wtf"... Until I saw that it was a reprint from POGO.. Nuff said.

Some choice pieces of BS:

the new jet would enter service in 2008 and be a high-performance replacement for the military’s aging airframes while only costing between $40 million and $50 million.

Fact: The earliest contracted IOC was 2010 (F-35B), not 2008.

Fact: They were NEVER contracted to cost $40-$50 mil in then year dollars. That was an estimate based on early FY '90s dollars (inflation is a bitch). Btw, $85 mil in 2020 dollars is $49 mil in 1995 dollars. Gee, I guess they actually did it.

Numerous missteps along the way—from the fact that the two competing contractors, Lockheed Martin and Boeing, submitted “flyoff” planes that were crude and undeveloped “technology demonstrators” rather than following the better practice of submitting fully functional prototypes
So, they were in favor of spending an additional $40-$50 billion on a second development program?

the F-35 Joint Program Office now intends to call—quite arbitrarily—an end to the plane’s development phase and developmental testing.
Huh.. Arbitrary? Seems like the SDD program goals were well defined and are now coming to an end. Of course, POGO is basing this off of the latest DOT&E report which itself is based of data from October 2017. I guess they think that nothing has happened since Oct 2017.

testing results show that the planes already delivered cannot even effectively address the current threats. That’s a problem.
lol, They are still trotting out the CLAWS test. I guessed they have missed the reporting on the last two years of LFEs (Red Flag, Northern Edge, etc).

In September 2016 then-Air Force secretary Deborah Lee James certified to Congress that the F-35As to be delivered in fiscal year 2018 would have full combat capabilities. James was referring to the Block 3F aircraft to be produced this year. But according to the DOT&E report, the current much-delayed testing schedule means that won’t be possible—they’re not even close to combat-ready.
Psst, Block 3F jets started rolling off the line last August and will get their final Block 3F updates this year. They don't require IOT&E to certify their capability for combat.

Ugh.. There it just too much krap to comment on.. I have work (that I get paid to do) left to do :)

Wouldn't waste too much time with hack jobs.

Once the jets start proving they can over-perform, then the tactical line changes to "not worth the effort" etc. I wouldn't be surprised if these are competitor paid.

weasel1962 was dead on with his prediction.

As Lockheed celebrates, F-35 critics retool for lonely fight

Oddly enough, the Defense News articles on navel matters frequently draws in some very reasoned and intelligent discussions among navy vets.
Though, you may have to get past one or two tirades about the LCS first.

These people will never give up. Every fault will be magnified, every positive minimized. They remind me of the people bad mouthing the F-15 when it was new. Too big. Too complex. Too expensive. Never work in the desert. Radar is unreliable.

35 years later it's the most successful air to air platform in history: 105 - 0
