Does anybody knows if the F-16 requires the battery in order to perform an engine start? If yes, can we make sure of external GPU instead to provide the power source instead?

Not sure if I understand you questions. The F-16 only need battery power for normal start. The switch in the cockpit is place to main power but you won't get main power until the standby generator come online around 58% engine RPM on C/D models, for A/B you have to wait for main generator to come online AFAIK. You can also start it with ground power, but this is not normal operations and outside of maintenance not very common unless there is a problem.

Battery switch to main, fuel switch on, JFS to start one.. at 15% throttle over the horn to idle and wait for light-off.
Didn't use external power since it hooked up too close to the inlet

20% on PW100-220E, over the horn, monitor FTIT, fuel, hydraulic and oil pressures.

You do realize the same place you hook up external power is the same place you hook up ground communication? Though it wasn't common to run the engine with external power hooked up on the flight line, we did use external power in the hush house. Just sayin
