Bumping a thread, last post was 11 years ago!

Is funding still the official line as to why 40/42s (guys please stop writing "40's" - no apostrophe is needed for plurals. Sorry it's a bug bear of mine) aren't getting the AIFF bird slicers?

Also, are they the same antennas as the the ADF bird-slicers? Same antennas, different hardware? Or entirely different? Or indeed entirely the same?

Thanks.

Some 2018 photos of Ohio ANG F-16C Block 42s - ANG AFAIK pretty much the only B42 users that would deploy.

All I know is the original F-16A ADF used a Northrop Grumman APX-109 system that not only had (raised) bird slicers in front of the canopy but also had a second array of bird slicers under the air inlet.

The later MLU / CCIP used a different APX-113 "AIFF" system made by BAE and only has a single underside antenna in addition to the array. Whether each individual antenna is the same I cant tell you.

Only Block 40s with Bird Slicers I have found are those operated by Turkey and Bahrain - looked at South Dakota ANG in 2018 - have new paint but no slicers yet.
