455th Air Expeditionary Wing 19 hrs · Facebook

It’s #FighterFriday! Every Airman in the 455th has a part in the mission to protect our homeland from here at #bagramairfield. It is always inspirational when we can feature our top Airman doing his part in the mission. Brig. Gen. R. Scott Jobe, 455th Air Expeditionary Wing Commander, and members of the expeditionary fighter squadron, were recently photographed during preflight checks and the launching of a F-16 Fighting Falcon in support of the Resolute Support Mission. I loved watching the F16s taking off at Baghram. They would stay tree top level accelerating all the way to the base of those mountains and then pull up vertical the last second.

Is that a 1911 in the pilots holster?

Are there any accounts of a bailed out pilot using their side arm to escape capture?

Lots of pics of Vipers and A-10s. Interesting loadouts on the Vipers--GBU-54s, rockets, SDBs... The only one I can ID a fin flash is the attached one. Wisconsin Guard?

Am I seeing that correctly? AIM-120s loaded for flutter/bending relief and then empty AIM-9 spots outboard?

F-16 Fighting Falcons from the 79th Fighter Squadron at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., arrive at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, 25 Oct., 2019. While assigned to 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram, the F-16s will help provide decisive airpower throughout the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. Certainly not recently......but you still fly with one "in country". I flew with a standard USN issue Sig 9mm pistol on OEF/OIR/OFS flights, though not sure what the USAF guys are flying with.

115th Fighter Wing
14 hrs ·

These photos exemplify teamwork.

These Airmen come from different backgrounds and different experiences. Some have deployed before, others are experiencing the deployed life for the very first time. Some have civilian careers completely different from their military careers, yet others work on/around and fly these jets full-time.

Being away from home has been hard on all of them.

This group has demonstrated how people from all walks of life can come together to learn from each other and support each other, making sure they execute their missions as flawlessly as they possibly can.

Their training brought them to this point in their military careers. Their ability to work together and support each other will bring them home.
