Feel free to discuss anything here - as long as it is F-16 related.

Does anyone recall the name (or nickname) of the thin wire that broke easily? It was coated in plastic that was brittle and would require replacement more often than simple repair. I know this is a very specific question, I'm not expecting an answer.

To be more specific, Kapton is the insulation.

One of the guys I work with was at the airlines (in maintenance, and moved up to engineering) right as all the Kapton wiring and EWIS stuff came about. He has some good stories.

And Kapton is/was a very good lightweight insulation, except when it gets work-hardened, then it is a very bad lightweight insulation. 'Exciting' though.

Are you talking about it "is/was very good" for non-aviation related applications?
