Since this was used in the article from 2013, it is most likely used for illustrative purposes and is not representing the fighters you have seen over Texas the last week.

As to your question, the 138FW 125FS stand alert in Oklahoma, covering much of Texas.

The picture was just for reference, because if I posted a pic of what I'm seeing, you would hardly see anything but a spec

There are F-16 units at Fort Worth and San Antonio that both utilize airspace across the state for training. Not to mention the alert jets at Houston or the jets that fly out of the Lockeheed plant at Fort Worth. This is all to say, you’re probably seeing nothing out of the ordinary.
