Hello

During last Monte Real open base, we saw the last three F-16s for Romania Air Force. Of a total of 12, about 9 have already been delivered missing these 3

It is strange in Romania they did not select the EF-2000. They are in the European community but perhaps they do not have too much money to invest in this aircraft. Even more, an F-16 is cheaper, more reliable and very effective single engine.

It makes sense...

I don't know why it would be considered strange. Not counting Romania, there are still more European nations who operate the F-16 than the Typhoon.

Romania isn't exactly awash with cash. What is more surprising is that more of these Eastern Euro nations haven't taken up the option for cheap second hand F-16s.

Possibly another 24 F-16s for Romania. 36 Vipers is a pretty decent fighter fleet.

Romania is far more concern with operating closely with the US and other Eastern European Nations like Poland. As a counter to Russia. Than say somebody like France or Germany.

Plus, as stated by other members. The obvious financial restraints...... :|
