The Woman Behind Utah's F-35 Flyover:
Although Utahns couldn't see the pilots during the Utah Strong Flyover, Capt. Kristin “BEO” Wolfe has an inspiring story to tell. Female Airmen team up for historic launch
09 Jun 2020 Tech. Sgt. Melissa Harvey, 380th Air Expeditionary Wing
"...Capt. Emily "Banzai" Thompson, an F-35A Lightning II pilot, made history as she flew in combat, making her the first female to do so in that airframe.... It has taken Thompson time to get to this point in her career, which began as an F-16 Fighting Falcon pilot. After graduating college, she spent about a year and a half in pilot training for the F-16, completed a tour in that airframe, then went on to training for the F-35A, according to Thompson.
On the day of her first combat sortie, she had an all-female maintenance crew launch her off for the historic flight. Airman First Class Ashlin Randolph, a weapons load crew member, was one of a four-person team on duty for the historic launch...."Photo: "U.S. Air Force Capt. "Lieutenant J.G. Madeline Swegle's achievement comes 46 years after the Navy got its first female tactical jet pilot.
U.S. Navy Lieutenant J.G. Madeline Swegle has made history as her service's first-ever female African American tactical jet pilot. She is set to formally receive her gold wings at a ceremony later this month as a newly minted Naval Aviator.
News that Swegle had successfully completed the final stage of her Tactical Air (Strike) aviator training had first emerged on July 7, when a personal friend of the lieutenant, who goes by the Twitter handle @PaigeAlissa, Tweeted out about it. The Chief of Naval Air Training's (CNATRA) public affairs office has now confirmed that this is the case in its own Tweet...
...Swegle's achievement comes some 46 years after naval aviator Rosemary Mariner became the first woman in the Navy to fly tactical jets in 1974. Mariner, who eventually rose to the rank of captain and also became the first woman to assume command of an aviation squadron anywhere in the U.S. military, retired in 1997 and sadly passed away last year after a battle with cancer...."

Fixed it for you. We've had female Naval Aviators since the 1970's, and women started flying operational Navy (and USMC) tactical jets in the early 1990s. But apparently she is the first African American woman to do so. That surprised me to be quite honest, but I also realized I couldn't think of a single one that I knew of previously when I thought about it. Pretty cool stuff, congrats to her on the wings as well!
