Thanks Ashlyn!I would have to think that this has probably happened before — an all-female crew on a firefighting helicopter flight, but probably not often. Anyone have examples?

Neshat Jahandari receives four stripes to become another female Captain in Iran airlines:
Neshat Jahandari has recently received her four stripes after her first independent flight, turning into the second woman airline pilot in Iran. Jahandari is 29 years old. For the past four years, she has been working as a co-pilot for the Zagros Airlines. She has flown for 3,000 hours till now. She began to work with the Zagros Airlines in the field of flight safety and the review of Flight Data Monitoring. About three and a half years later, the company needed a pilot; she passed the test and was accepted with merit. At the age of 17, she began her pilot training classes, and at the same time studied at the University. She received her degree in Aviation Flight Engineering Technology. Due to her interest in this field, after receiving her licence, she received all the flight-related documents for the airliners, such as the Commercial Pilot License and the Instrument Rating. Finally, her dream came true and she became a pilot. Although, there is no legal prohibition for women in the aviation field, entering into the profession has not been so easy for a woman. “When I entered the pilot school, many were surprised and said this is a male profession and is not suitable for me,” she says. “This strange behaviour could be a hindrance to me, but I believed in it and I was doing my job. I believe that everyone who does his/her best in every field, will certainly enjoy its result. In today’s world, as we have male professional chefs, we also have successful female mechanics engineers. Success has nothing to do with gender. Of course, it’s natural to be surprised to see a female pilot,” she noted.

Meet Marine's First Female F-35B Fighter Pilot

U.S. Marine Capt. Anneliese Satz left her legacy on the Marine Corps’ F-35B Program when she became the first female Marine to complete the F-35B Basic Course, June 27. Flying is nothing new to Satz—prior to joining the Marine Corps she earned her commercial pilots license flying a Robinson R44 Helicopter which she attributes to preparing her for a career in military aviation. Over the last four years, Satz, 29, has completed Aviation Pre-flight Indoctrination in Pensacola, Florida, Primary Flight Training in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she learned to fly the T-6 Texan II, then to Meridian, Mississippi, where she flew the T-45C Goshawk advanced jet training aircraft. Upon completing her initial trainings, she was assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501, the “Warlords,” to train on her assigned fleet aircraft: the F-35B Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter, the world’s first supersonic STOVL stealth aircraft. It’s designed to operate from austere, short-field bases and a range of air-capable ships operating near front-line combat zones. “At each of my training schools I did my best,” said Satz, a Boise, Idaho native. “I truly believe that showing up prepared and working diligently are two major keys to success.”After arriving to MCAS Beaufort in July of 2018, she took her first flight in the F-35B in October that year. “The first flight in an F-35 is by yourself,” she said. “The syllabus thoroughly prepares you for that first time you take off and for every flight after that, it’s an exhilarating experience.” During her four years of training, Satz earned over 300 flight hours, spent a significant amount of time practicing in simulators while also studying for written and practical application exams; and although training and learning never stops, she will now be assigned to her first operational unit, Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121, the Green Knights in Iwakuni, Japan. “I’m very grateful for the instructors, the maintainers, and countless others at 501 who lent me their expertise and time while I was going through the syllabus,” Satz said. “This is a phenomenal program made possible by all of their hard work. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to learn from all of them. I am incredibly excited to get to VMFA-121 and look forward to the opportunity to serve in the Fleet Marine Forces.”

JFK Air Force JROTC cadet earns pilot's license has earned her wings:
Farrer recently completed the private pilot license training course at Kansas State University as part of the Flight Academy Scholarship Program — an Air Force-level initiative created in collaboration with the commercial aviation industry to address the national civilian and military pilot shortage, according to a press release from the Guam Department of Education. “Always prepare for the worst and hope for the best, do not let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. You can do anything in life, if you want it badly enough…words from my mentors, John Shimizu and Roke Matanane,” Farrer said, noting that she faced a number of challenges while at KSU but will always remember her time there. Farrer is one of 150 Air Force Junior ROTC cadets around the world who received the Chief of Staff of the Air Force scholarship from Headquarters Air Force Junior ROTC, Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama. More than 1,600 cadets applied for the scholarship, which is valued at approximately $20,000. Air Force Junior ROTC has been charged by the Air Force Aircrew Crisis Task Force to bring back the “luster of aviation” to high school students and to increase diversity in aviation fields. Graduates of the program who earned their private pilot license do not incur a military commitment to the Air Force or other branch of service, and completion of the program does not guarantee acceptance into one of the military’s commissioning programs.The mission of Air Force Junior ROTC is to develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community, while instilling values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and sense of accomplishment. There are more than 120,000 high school students enrolled in Air Force Junior ROTC programs at more than 880 high schools in the U.S. and overseas.
