Hoi,

The detailing looks great. The intake looks odd to me (not being familiar with their 1/32 kit) but the RofG intake is not exactly a walk in the park either. Includes the parahousing and Lantirn etc. and a long ALQ-184. I'll be needing to get at least 1 in 2008. Nice to see it includes both engines and intakes. I like the RofG kit a lot, but their P&W exhaust does not measure out nor does it look right to me.

There were some other high-res pics of the sprues that revealed some disappointing carry-overs from the 32nd scale fubar F-16.

The glare shield was altered from the 32nd scale kit, but "not" corrected as it's still quite off.

The main wheels are just as bulbous, over sized, and inaccurate as the 32nd scale ones. The nose wheel/tire looks as disproportional as the mains.

The intakes look to be very much like the 32nd scale kit, which means they will most likely be as inaccurate.

I am pretty much banking that Academy's 72nd F-16 will be a blind scale down of their 32nd kit, with all the major shape and detail inaccuracies.

If anything, the Academy will offer some nice stores to use on the Revell or Hasegawa kits.

This is sad and quite unfortunate. The good thing is that the Revell F-16s will still be the best overall 72nd scale kits on the market.

But they are hard to find, haven't seen one on a hobby shop in ages or on online shops.Pity, the RoG/monogram kit is the best 1/72 Viper kit in my book, would love to see them put it back into the line up again.

I don't get out much to our LHS. They tend to cator torwards RC and gaming more.

I've had no problem finding Revell F-16s around the various model webstores. In fact, I pciked up the Revell F-16B and F-16A Spitfire from Tower Hobbies right before Christmas.

I also see them at various swap meets and will be looking for them this March at the Kit Collector's show here in So. California. Last summer, I picked up 3 of the Revell/USA F-16CJs for $5 each. Not a nad little bargin.

Even after the Academy kit hits the streets, I have no doubt the Revell F-16s will still by far be the best overall Viper in 72nd. It still has its problems though, as noted already; the undersized Pratt & GE exhaust. Another porfile problem that peeves me is the flat glare shield.

Yeah, I'm with Mike on this one, we do visit the same stores. I've been able to find Bs and CJs without much difficulty. What IS hard to find is the Monogram only boxing of the CJ. Now that RoG has on-demand deliveries since their split from R-M, it's easier to find their kits for the most part. But it's a good thing the Acad kit doesn't seem to be any improvment, now I won't have to get rid of my dozens of RoG kits :D

You guys are lucky then,no one around here has any and the online shops I frequent never have them in stock, the F-16C kits that is,the A and B models can be found but C's seem to hiding when I go to look for one.

Just ordered 2 more F-16Bs (for a you know what project  ) from Great Models, though it's listed as discontinued. The stock is probably pretty low, so get it what you can. Also, Tower Hobbies is still listing the Spitfire F-16A. The F-16C (really CJ) is getting hard to find though.

Now, how about that Academy 48th Raptor :) Maybe, with the "right" technical consultant, they'll get this one right.

I'll keep that in mind,in fact,I may contact you after my trip to Ft. Jackson this week to watch my son graduate from Army basic and see him off to Ft. Eustis for UH-60 maintenace training. The 181st is creating a history room on base and I think I may need one for a project for it.
