Classified aircraft crashed in Nevada, F-35 pilot killed
September 6, 2017 (by
Jon Sommerville) -
Some news agencies are reporting two days after the crash stating that the mission was a classified training sortie over the Nevada Test and Training Range from a USAF press release.
USAF Col. Eric Schultz was the twenty-eighth pilot to fly the F-35 and is reported to be the pilot killed. Aircraft was from one of Air Force Materiel Command's. Col. Eric made first in-flight weapons release of a 2,000 pound GBU-31 BLU-109 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) back on October 16, 2012.
So was Col. Schultz flying the F-35A from the 461st Flight Test Squadron at the time? Unlikely.
