Working with the F-16 Combined Test Force at Edwards AFB, CA, he Was number 71 to reach 2,000 hours, and Was the 1st test pilot (the 6th F-16 pilot worldwide) to reach the 3,000 hrs mark. The milestone occurred during a Block 50 Tape 4 test mission, focussing on Maverick integration, on Thu March 21st, 1996 at Edwards AFB, CA. Major Prechtl stated, "These developmental test missions focus on finding as many problems as we can in the test tape. This way they can be fixed in the production tape so the operators get an increase in combat capability. I'm thrilled to be part of the team that develops this capability."

Note:The F-16 test squadron at Edwards is the 416 FLTS, not the 415 FLTS. The 415th was briefly the F-15 test squadron before it was renumbered the 445 FLTS. The 445th has since been deactivated and its fighter test functions combined with those of the 416th.
