November 20, 1998 (by Lieven Dewitte) - A Shaw AFB F-16 pilot from the 55th Fighter Squadron safely ejected prior to the aircraft impacting the ground here Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. Lt. Col. Robert Harvey, 55th FS commander, was treated for minor injuries and released from the base clinic. Harvey is an F-16 instructor pilot with more than 3,500 flying hours, including more than 2,300 in the F-16.

A board of officers will investigate the accident.
