Cannon F-16 crashes, pilot safe

May 12, 1997 (by Lieven Dewitte) - An Air Force F-16C crashed at 9:40 a.m. today approximately five miles north of Vaughn, N.M.

The aircraft was from Cannon and was on a routine training mission at the time of the accident. The pilot ejected safely and is not injured.

A board of officers will investigate the accident.
