Went down 2 miles southeast of Strum, Wisconsin after engine began to lose thrust. Pilot ejected safely before aircraft impacted the terrain. The F-16 belonged to the Wisconsin ANG at the time of the crash. Some sources have this aircraft lost on June 27, but this is incorrect.

Flew 46 missions during Desert Storm.

Aircraft has block 50 modifications, GE-129 engine and mount for anti-spin chute. Major Russel Prechtl broke 3000 hours in this aircraft. Nose art was provided by Paramoutn Studios as that company adopted the unit.

Starboard main gear tension bar failed after being loaded with fuel and weapons at Decimomannu. The aircraft was parked and chocked at the time. It was marked ‘16 AF’ and was on detachment at the time. Cause was a corrosion on landing gear.
