First foreign F-16 loss. Fatal crash in Ijsselmeer, near Stavoren in the Netherlands. The aircraft was practising on the Vliehors range. The pilot, Captain E.J.L. Kropman, was killed.

An engine problem brought down this aircraft in Lauwersmeer, Netherlands. The pilot managed to eject safely

Aircraft was damaged beyond repair when it ran over the barrier at Leeuwarden AB, the Netherlands. The pilot, Lt. Filip Appeldorn, ejected safely and survived the accident. The mishap occurred during initial conversion training due to an engine problem. This was the first zero-zero ejection from an F-16

Crashed together with its sistership F-16A (78-0227, J-227) near Hoogeveen, Netherlands. The pilot, Captain J.B. Huisman, did not survive the impact. Both aircraft were performing a close-in dogfight in dusk conditions and suffered what is known as Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT)

Crashed together with its sistership F-16A (78-0224, J-224) near Hoogeveen, Netherlands. The pilot, 2nd Lieutenant B. Van Winkel, did not survive the impact. Both aircraft were performing a close-in dogfight in dusk conditions and suffered what is known as Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT)
04 Oct 1983 [w/o] J-252 78-0252 RNLAF 322 sqn F-16A Block 10B Details
Ran off the runway at Leeuwarden AB. The pilot, Captain J.C. De Vries, was unfortunately killed in the incident. The accident resulted from the ingestion of a heron into the engine at high speed during a heavy weight take-off roll. Since the hook system did not function correctly, the arrestor cable was missed and the aircraft left the end of the runway with a speed of approximately 100kts. Immediately thereafter it overturned and came across a ditch which tore off the nose gear and the nose section. When the aircraft came to a halt, everything ahead of the fuel tank was gone
28 May 1984 [w/o] J-634 80-3634 RNLAF 306 sqn F-16A Block 15F Details
Crashed near Linz, Germany in a housing area. No civilian was killed or hurt, but a house was seriously damaged. Unfortunately, the pilot, 1st Lieutenant P. Enzerink, didn't manage to bail out and was killed in the accident. The wingman returned home safely.

Crashed near Grossfeldberg, Germany. Both crew members, Captain W.E. Van Nieuwenburg and 1st Lieutenant A.J. Vervoort, were killed in the accident.
03 Jun 1985 [w/o] J-621 80-3621 RNLAF 311 sqn F-16A Block 15B Details
Collided in mid-air with F-16A (81-0865, J-865) near Gronau, Germany. The pilot, 1st Lieutenant Hans van Schaijk was killed in the collision.

Collided in mid-air with F-16A (80-3621, J-621) near Gronau, Germany. 1st Lieutenant Wiebe F.M. Schiphorst did not survive the collision and neither did the pilot of the other aircraft.

Crashed into the North Sea just off the coast off Doggersbank, Netherlands. The pilot ejected safely and was rescued.

Crashed into the North Sea near Ameland, Netherlands. The pilot, Bas Pellemans ejected safely and was rescued.
