Rumor has it that the Air Force may eliminate contractor field service representatives.
The plan would call for AFTES to pick up the duties of the Contractor Engineering and Technical Services (CETS).
This would be for all F-16 and F-15 bases.

Looks like a short term "bean counter" solution that will have to force a new contract on the contractors cutting cost of 'after the sale' services.
I say short term because AFTES will not have expertise to fix the problems with the 22 and 35 so the contractors will have to be rehired anyway.

USAF is going out of business for lack of money. Lets have a car wash and raise some cash. Something to think about anyway when we look at dumb decisions like wasting USAF cash on stuff like V-22s. Wait until they retire the Block 25/30/32s and there isn't anything to replace them....

Well, USAF has been eliminating CETS for a long time now and replacing them with AFETS. You must remember, however, that the primary job of CETS is to train AFETS to do their job, even says so in the AFI. Now you are lucky to find a Lockheed Tech Rep at a USAF base. Guard and Reserve have regional reps that travel between bases, seems to work pretty well.

The only F-16 USAF tech reps left are with the Thunderbirds and the 57th at Nellis and a couple of other places.

Best Regards,
