Topper,

Just pull up a video of the Blue Angels' solo pilots doing the inverted to inverted pass Wink You see, the jets start off inverted, roll 360 degrees while crossing upright at centerpoint, and then exit by pushing on the stick (negative G) before rolling upright and pulling positive G.

Hope this helps Thumb !

You must not be a military pilot or you would know fighter aircraft are generally designed for -3g and have no trouble reaching that condition.

Doh

Jeesh- even a roller coaster will put you through negative Gs! Somebody should put him in the back of a T-38, F-15B/D, or even better, an F-16B/D and give him a serious case of Redout! After he puts his eyeballs back in, maybe then he will get the picture!

I think I read about negative Gs in jets when I was about, 10? Rolling Eyes

This link should suffice:

In ALS tech school we had to learn all about G tolerances, because fighters put pilots through ALL types- positive, transverse, and negative. My tech data says that at 3 negative G's a hemmorage or other brain damage can occur... Mad

We get the Thunderbirds at Wings Over Houston in October.
I'm at a loss on what to do until then. Smile

I certainly don't know what the textbooks say, but many aerobatic pilot routinely pull -4 to -8 G's in their Edge 540's, Extra 300's, etc... I've flown in Pitts that routinely do -2+, and have never had bloodshot eyes.
While military jets can do some negative, it is not that common. If you need to maneuver, you roll, put the lift vector where you want it, and pull positive: you can get a lot more performance (and see through your lift vector) if you pull instead of push.
