There was recently an expo in Chile about the Chilean F-16 MLU's. certainly something got my attention, when I read that referred to the F-16's Block 15 MLU from the RNlAF, haven't got the Falcon Up & Falcon Star (known in the Netherlands as Pacer amstel), these programs should be executed by ENAER (Empresa Nacional Aeronautica de Chile).
The MLU in these F-16 is on stage Tape M2. Another Interesting fact was that these aircraft were made about two decades ago, having DMS (diminishing manufacturing sources ) that been said, already there are pieces that have been discontinued.
Other aspects implied the maintenance process of the aircraft, specially the structural fatigue, In The Netherlands there is the NRL Lab, who controls, checks and rechecks everything that has to do with Structural fatigue, these data is also sent to LM.
There is another evaluation system “FACE” ( Fatigue and Air Combat Evaluation System ). A system used by IAF. According the these studies even with the Falcon Star / Up, the F-16 block 15 will not get to the 8.000 flight hours.
Just wanted to share this with you guys (the experts) |
