GBU-12 effectivity....
Can it be useful to hit bad guys in jungles?
or what are the best weapons to be used against enemy hiding under jungle canopies?
Just for modelling purposes..... |

What can be seen can be hit.
Remember it still has the explosive charge (sometimes called war head), equivalent to any dumb bomb.
Just getting close to a soft target is just as effective with a big enough explosion.
My question would be why wast the GBU when a Mk 82 will do just fine? |

-coz i dont have Mk. 82s in 72nd scale!!!
& i wihs to depict that it would be a night viper........ so it does not have to dive bomb at night... |

F-16 does not need to "dive bomb" it has one of the best bombing systems in the world.
Are you looking to model a real jet with real mission?
Try this link for more weapons options

not really looking... i already have those weapon sets... since i am "dreaming" that my poor country will soon have the Vipers to use against moro/maoist guerillas & to intimidate the intruders in our airspace.... |

I think for the purpose of whacking someone underneath a jungle canopy, something GPS guided like the GBU-38 would be your best bet, because you'll never get a line of sight on your target with a laser beam through the trees. |

| Too small. Forged steel pointy tip BLU-109 to break some of the obstructions (trees) and of course careful fusing. The jungle is going to soak up a lot of the blast. A BLU-111 might just be a good noise maker in the environment you are talking about. Or I would air burst a MK84 (JDAM or LGB kitted) and then follow up with a BLU-109 or MK-84 (JDAM or LGB kitted). |

A 109 not needed just one 84 with a delay tail fuse will work just fine, cheaper too, although I like Purple's idea too |

The BLU-82B "daisy cutter" 15,000 pound (6800kg) conventional bomb would do it (and avoid the blame for the enviromental pollution). It was used to clear landing zones at the 'Nam. |

| Blu-82 can't be carried by a Viper, but a B-61 can, good shot Purple, I'm rolling on the ground laughing. And what are those indignious Filipinos gonna do with a fleet of Vipers, can the gov't even afford it or are they busy pocketing their GNP. Yes, I'm Filipino also, with kin still in the military there, boy what a mess of a country. Can you say corrupt! I'm glad we left them bases. Damn gov't wanted more money from us, shoot they owe us, remember. Had some good times in Olangapo, Baguio, and Clark, tho. |
