<a href="http://www.f-16.net/news_article4612.html">Belgian F-16 crashed at Kleine Brogel - Pilot safe</a>
We'll post updates as they become available.

First rumors indicate the aircraft was <a href="http://www.f-16.net/aircraft-database/F-16/airframe-profile/1978/">FA-99</a>.

According to Belgian newspapers, the aircraft took off at 14:44 from KB.

The pilot -an OCU-pilot- was practising low level approach, when the tower saw flames in the exhaust. The aircraft crashed at 15:01.
According to the Belgian Defense spokesperson and the pilot himself it might have been due to a birdstrike.

"The pilot ejected safely." is the only part I care about. Good news.

The pilot, Jean Francois Van Cranem (24) was only slightly injured and complained about shoulder pain. The pilot was still in training, but had almost completed that. He had over 500 hours of flying experience of which 132 hours in an F-16.

Although short on hours, he has one more experience that most others don't Wink

Glad he's safe Cheers

I would personally support transferring any upgrade-compatible AF jet slated to be retired from US's fleet. Along with a case of Belgian bier/e!
