Hullo guys.

I`ll be direct, lateley there`s been this rumor arround about Mexico buying F-16, most people think that it would be old A & B versions, but recently from inside the AF came up the news, obviously off the record, that actually we were looking after some Block 50`s.

I wonder how is the production line?, is it possible? what are the aprox cost of buyin 16 new Vipers block 50?

Could it be done yet?

Thank you all for your opinions and information on the matter.I`d really apreciate any help.

The $500 million the US is supporting the Mexican anti drug effort may go to some of this...

And there is enough Mexican nationals in the southern parts of the US to have them stationed right here where adequate operational and maintenance facilities are available...

They can use refried beans as fuel to cut costs.

And you guys called me rude the last time Rolling Eyes

I think payment should be made by one jet for 10000 illegals. They win both ways, they get the jet and 10000 workers to fix it too. Doh

I'm sure the exhaust scent would be less than desirable. Very Happy

It`s always sad to witness how people can be so stupid without doing the slightest effort. Thank`s for those who did bother to answer.

Gabo,

I for one would be very pleased to see Squadron 201 fly the F-16. Some commentators need to learn history and the valiant role of the Aztec Eagles during the Philippines campaign. The served valiantly with the 58th Fighter Group, 5th U.S. Air Force.

It is in honor of their service that the most southern squadron in Civil Air Patrol's California Wing adopted and still carries the designation "Squadron 201"

I agree with you Gabo!

As for your questions, the cost of a new F-16 Block 50/52 depends on the equipment level. If you look up in the forum regarding the Chilean and Polish Viper buys, you will get some input on what it might cost. I say might, as the price is also depending on whether you include the price of weapons, training, facilities etc. in the price or not.

The production line in the US is still up and running, so production is no problem. The Polish Vipers were delivered in around 4 year time line, so deliverytime isn`t too long.

My question to you is wether squadron 201 will continue using the good old F-5E/F's still, or wether they`ll remain in service alongside the Vipers - possibly in a new squadron?

As for as being made here in the US, if Mexico gets new ones they are more than likely to be manufactured and assembled overseas by the time the F-16 program catches up with making them. If they want them fast, they may have to settle for used USAF planes.
