| The D model is 91-0466. My old jet. I hope the Thunder Birds have a pretty painted pump handle because there going to need it. I think the C is 91-0401 or 91-0413 not sure though. Both were great jets, always code 1. |

tbolt2 - my son is at Mountain Home right now, nice to see your from that area too
Small world. Great area to live but I'm biased since I grew up outside Boise. Is he in the Air Force?

Bjorn, I'll get all the serial numbers for you. I transferred all of them out but am away from work now. It seems like yesterday we transferred them but my memory isn't working to well right now...12 hour shift on F-15's. I want the Viper back! I should be able to get them tomorrow. |

| Just curious, what was the power like on the 32s they had as far as flying qualities? Will they notice a different feel to the aircraft going to a 52 or same-same? |

tbolt2, yes, he is, he has a strange story, was in PJ school four years ago, blew out his knee in a jump, got reassigned to CE.
Been to Iraq twice now (a year each) then he applies for SERE Instructor and gets selected.
Waiting for a firm school date from the USAF now, he just sewed on Ssgt (right at his four year mark).
He just turned 23 years old (21 Oct)...a good youngman, his name is Richard if you ever run into him on the base.
Thanks for the information you provided....
Funny thing about Mountain Home, they are now the 366th FW, I was in the 366th when I was at Danang, Vietnam - funny how "Wings" get reassigned and repositioned too, each time I visit that area it feels odd knowing I was in Vietnam with that same Group - Gunfighters always! |

I never worked Block 52's myself but I am betting the only real difference or affect (as far as the demos are concerned) might or will be the thrush available, the -229 kicks out about an extra 5000 pounds of thrust.
I believe the flight characteristics are about the same, since most of the real Block 52 classified boxes are removed and the systems not being fully utilized, I don't think it will be that different from how they use the aircraft for flight demonstrations now BUT I could be wrong. |

It is most likely 91-0413 as 91-0401 went to the 157th FS. |

I don't envy the folks on the Thunderbird team right now, I was on the team during the transition from the "A"'s to the "C"'s, it's going to be a lot of hard work to get the hydraulic lines in the landing gear to shine.......There's a lot more to do than just the paint job, which looks great from the pics..... Way to go Tom!!
BTW, I'll miss the polished "turkey feathers", I've spent many an hour buffing them...

The weather was a big help too, I just pointed and pushed the button...the aircraft did shine, it made it real easy to take a picture of.
Thanks Smitty |

Good stuff. A short story...when we transferred our acft to McEntire the chief that came with the team from McEntire was also with the 366th in Danang! Chief Dickson is his name...you might know him. I worked with him through the whole transfer and it was neat hearing about all the history!
I'll keep an eyeball out for you son!
Neat that you and your son are/were in the same wing. |

PW seems to be the choice for the the Thunderburds with ALL their F-16s!
Ever since they used the F-16A w/PW-200 then upgraded them to PW-220E, moved into F-16C Blk32 w/PW-220, and now onto the PW-229....
Hmm, wonder if the F119 or F135 are in the future!? |
