AFAIK a Navy weapon only. I think the last combat use was by the U.S.N. in Desert Storm, according to the book "Angles of Attack" which was done by an A-6 dude.
It was taken out of service sometime in the 1990's.
Some claim the rocket gives it range. Yes some. However remember your laser can only shoot so far too. What the rocket also gives one is less exposure time to flying in a threat area while lasing something as the Skipper would have a shorter flight time.

| Woulda been interesting to see the Skipper's rocket booster attached to a GBU-24B/B, maybe give it a little extra Delta V at impact. |
