It's a pity that Eifel Times has ceased publication in a print form (a few weeks ago). It's only internet now.

| If you really think about it, it is a better thing. Everyone can see it now, we have nothing to hide unlike most so called countries. |

| Good article Lajes. As the Pro Super for all this I know everyone mentioned. I worked with Cujo when he was a young LT as a Juvat in Kunsan. These folks along with all the maintainers are the worlds best. Thanks Lajes |

Purple,
If you remember, it was our 50-something year old DO who was lead for that (10-hour) sortie. He had to be helped down the crew ladder afterwards if I recall correctly.
As for the Serb SAM battery professionalism, I'd say they did what they could with available technology. During the first couple days of the war, they used the sites pretty much conventionally, until they realized (as SAM operators throughout history have learned) that turning on their radar invites a direct hit. Later, they started shooting the SAMS ballistically, without any ground-based radar guidance. Sort of like expensive AAA. This was countered effectively when the Vipers started taking PET or preemptive shots (a timed attack where the SEAD jet puts a missile in the air against a known SAM battery while another aircraft goes in closer for a bomb delivery) If they turn on the radar to counter the bomber, the SAM hits it. If they leave it off, the bomb hits it. |
