I also work on other aircraft but I still dont have any classified data that is not relevant in my area of work. So what kind of enlightment could you give outside of your experience of work?
Im just curious to know what kind of speculation your refferring to? |

I think he's trying to find out how many other maintainers think the Test-bed is a piece of sh*t. |

| just what i've read about capabilities and coatings alot is close but not all true. in marietta all we were allowed to clean with was blue scrubbies since a few geniuses used alchohol pads and removed some of the ram. one area of discussion was the doors opening and giving up stealth, on the ground you can operate them in slow mode, however when the pilot launches a weapon the doors open release the weapon and close very, very, fast. some of the other stealth features i don't think i'm allowed to speak about. there is alot i want o say and share but don't know if i can.the aircraft is pretty much an f-15 built like an f-16 only very advanced. i've worked all three hence the moniker 3fightermech 15's at nellis 16's in the guard and block 60's in uae, 22's at marietta on the flightline there. one thing i think i can say that i saw mentioned in a previous thread is about the intake ducts if you stand in front of the jet and look strait down the tubes you cant see the fan since the tubes kind of turn up and in to slow down mach air and help with rcs. that makes the tubes a pain to jump btw. |

Having worked the F-16 for 6 years, I can tell you that (IMO) the two are NOTHING alike. Sure, they both operate under the same concept (fly by wire) but beyond that, they are nothing alike. With that said; F-16 guys can adapt to the F-22 better (IMO) than the F-15 guys.
Yeah, the doors open slower on the ground, why put that much strain on the doors when they are constantly being opened and closed? I guess I don't get why you mentioned that. Same with the intake. Yeah it slopes up and in, but it has more to do with RCS than it does with the slowing of MACH air. There are other devices, and features on the jet for dealing with the relief of MACH air and the formation of boundary air.

Since you worked it for 4 years you should know what you can and can not say. But why bother say the two after-mentioned sentences at all? They weren't relevant in the least, except to tell people that you know classified stuff. When in doubt don't say anything. OPSEC!!!! |

I was about to say the same thing. If you, 3fightermech, do work or have worked on Raptors at Marietta, you darn well know what you can and can't talk about it. |
