Two weeks ago an A-10 was on the DV ramp at Eddy. Tail number 80-0218. Guess who got to launched her out over 30 years later? I got her with under 20 hours @ crooked creek ... she now has 8600 |

Scary that when I think of my first jet F-16A 80-0509, it would seem ancient if she were still flying being an early Block 10, but an A-10 built at the same time would be considered "one of the new ones". |

My first bird was 89-2009 at Aviano back in '96 such a pig but I loved that machine.
Eventually cleaned enough of the paint off that they were gonna send her to Ramstein for a fresh new coat.

| I got a "station wagon" when I was assigned to Luke in 1985, 78-0101. I remember watching it come down the taxiway, returning from PDM, I was going to assist in my first recovery. The expediter truck rolled up and told my crew chief (Gary Anderson) that his wife just went into labor so he jumped in the truck and left before the jet got into the spot, leaving me by myself! Fortunatley someone came over to help, which was great because I was real "green" and didn't really know what to do. Then I learned how to do an acceptance inspection - baptism by fire! |

| My first jet was an F-4 Phantom. Tail number 63-0646. That jet was the same age as me. How ironic. |

| I remember like it was yesterday. 526 AMU, 86 TFW, Ramstein AB, West Germany. F-4E 68-0408. My first F-16 was in the 512 AMU at Ramstein. 84-1291, a Block 25, fresh from the factory. Less than 15 hours on it! |

It wasn't my first, but it was the most memorable. I got it brand new from the factory. When it shipped out and the block 40's came [Link pending approval] was the replacement! Everyone knew who's jet it was when it first touched down! |

| The first jet I ever crew was a T-38 Talon, 64-3287. The jet was the same age as me and looked as good! It was at Reese AFB, Texas. I went out to the base in 2002 - training area for local police department. |

I cleaned the crap out of that jet. Learned how to change rudder pedals on that one. And boy do I miss the Fatigues. They were so easy to wear.
I was a jet eng mech at MacDill, '78-'82. Missed that base bad. Never could get stationed back. F4D's when I got there, the F-16 Falcons started arriving in '80 I think. |
