I just got an assignment to Al Dhafra for 1 year. The problem is that I'm a F-16 Crew Chief and there are no F-16's there except the UAE AirForce. So.....Now I dont know what I'll be working there or even what acft are there. Thanks.

You could do TA there. One of my supervisors did that for a year. Said it was a little boring but the money was well worth worth. Had enough to buy a new Cadillac when he got back.

My guess would be a Transient Alert or DETATCHMENT type of position.

Because of the deal that allowed UAE to purchase the Blk 60's, it probably allows the U.S. to use the airfield "as needed". What unit do your orders say you'll be assigned to??

Out of all of the places over in that part of the world, UAE is one of the better places, at least you'll be in barracks instead of a tent!!!

assignment says DET 8 but a friend of mine who is there says there is no DET 8 there.
